“A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships” by the 1975, is an alternative pop album that explores the nuances of dating in a modern world with technology. Through intentional use of physical manipulation, including photo manipulation, acetone transfer, and scanning, the duality between modern sexuality and the internet was explored and on display in this design. Hierarchy is established by allowing the large-scale TV and red screen to dominate the space around it, becoming a place for the eyes to focus, while the album title sits to the right, being subtle and not taking away from the focal point, creating a nice proportion. The messy array of chords strewn around the cover leads the eye from the front to the back of the album, again creating a sense of balance and continuity within the overall design.
