The magazine reboot was a project meant to test our ability to utilize our knowledge of grids and hierarchy while introducing us to unfamiliar elements such as color, images, and illustration. Though challenging, this project ultimately allowed the freedom to experiment and learn more about how to successfully combine familiar elements like grids with new elements such as photos. Throughout this project, an understanding of grid use was crucial. With the introduction of things like color and image, a whole new set of obstacles stood in the way in this project. Between balancing scale, proportion, and color, this was not an easy task. But by using elements like gradient, fade, and opacity, the magazine design came together.
